Recovery from injury/surgery

Supporting your dog through recovery after surgery or injury can feel overwhelming. As a canine physiotherapist, my goal is to aid your dog’s healing process, reduce pain, and help them regain mobility—so they can get back to doing what they love.

I offer a range of physiotherapy techniques to promote a smooth and effective recovery, including:

  • Optimizing healing – Enhancing bone and muscle repair for a faster recovery.

  • Restoring movement – Re-educating and strengthening muscles for better mobility.

  • Pain management – Addressing discomfort and preventing long-term issues.

  • Preventing compensatory problems – Reducing strain on other muscles and joints.

  • Supporting wound healing – Encouraging proper tissue repair.

Whether your dog is recovering from muscle tears, TPLO surgery (for cruciate ligament injuries), or another orthopedic procedure, we are here to help.

No one wants to see their dog in pain. As a canine physiotherapist, I understand how discomfort can affect not only their movement but also their overall well-being. Just like humans, dogs adjust their posture and activity levels to cope with pain, which can lead to further mobility issues over time.

I offer a range of treatments to help manage and reduce pain, including:

  • Acute pain relief – Addressing sudden pain from injuries or post-surgery recovery.

  • Chronic pain management – Helping dogs with long-term discomfort from conditions like arthritis or joint issues.

  • Targeted pain relief – Treating pain in muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones for improved mobility.

Many of these treatments can be safely used alongside your dog’s current medication, providing a holistic approach to pain management.

Supporting chronic conditions

Surgery isn’t always the best or preferred option for every dog. In some cases, it may not be suitable, or you may want to explore non-surgical management first.

Canine physiotherapy can play a crucial role in helping dogs with conditions such as:

  • Osteoarthritis – Managing joint pain and improving mobility.

  • Hip & elbow dysplasia – Strengthening muscles to support the joints.

  • Cruciate ligament injuries – Enhancing stability and reducing discomfort.

Through targeted therapy, I focus on strengthening the affected areas, maintaining and improving function, and reducing pain and compensatory issues that may develop over time.

If you own a working or sporting dog, have you considered how veterinary physiotherapy can enhance their performance and longevity?

Just like human athletes, active dogs develop muscle tightness over time, which can restrict movement, affect performance, and increase the risk of injury. Regular physiotherapy sessions can help keep your dog in peak condition by:

  • Reducing muscle tension – Enhancing flexibility and mobility.

  • Improving strength and conditioning – Supporting endurance and resilience.

  • Identifying imbalances – Addressing weaknesses before they lead to injury.

  • Optimizing muscle function – Ensuring efficient movement for work or sport.

  • Sports-specific conditioning – Tailoring exercises to meet the physical demands of your dog’s specific activity, whether it’s agility, gundog work, flyball, or herding.

Investing in preventative physiotherapy and targeted conditioning can help your dog stay strong, agile, and injury-free—so they can continue excelling in their sport or work.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is a safe, non-invasive treatment that uses light energy to promote healing, reduce inflammation, and relieve pain. This therapy works at a cellular level to accelerate tissue repair, making it an excellent option for dogs recovering from injuries, surgery, arthritis, and chronic pain conditions. Laser therapy can enhance mobility, support wound healing, and provide effective relief from discomfort, helping your dog recover faster and stay active.
